MIXTAPE - track sixteen, volume four

clarence "frogman" henry - ain't got no home

the last song on the mix. i have no idea what the deal is with clarence's different voices on this song, but i'm feeling it. john invented listening to this one a few months ago, and sometimes i feel like it's the best thing that ever happened to us. when it comes on, it makes everyone drop what they are doing, get stoked and start dancing.
the next time you and your dude/lady are being silently mad at each other after getting into a retarded argument, just put this song on extra loud and do the choreographed dance that you've been rehearsing. if they aren't laughing, break up with them immediately.

SOPHOMORE fall collection

chrissie miller kills it again with the fall line. and it's finally (almost) available! we just added these to the shop today.

my favorite pieces of clothing always tend to be the ones you can easily dress up with stilettos or wear casually with flat boots or converse (no not with flip flops, all you southern california trolls). all of these pieces are exactly that.

MIXTAPE - track fifteen, volume four

jeff buckley - i know it's over

john suggested i put this song on the mix. a great cover of a greater song. not very user friendly if you aren't already a fan of the smiths or jeff... but eventually it will kill you either way.

U N E A R T H E N

introducing UNEARTHEN crystal necklaces, the latest craze at Bona Drag. all the girls at BD swear by these necklaces and it's gotten kinda new-agey over here. but i'm not afraid to say it: crystals work. even better than dream catchers.

we've also added my personal favorite new hand dyed t-shirt by luxury jones, feathered bobby pins by laura kranitz, and a new cheap knock off shoe.

MIXTAPE - track fourteen, volume four

the smiths - i won't share you

MIXTAPE - track thirteen, volume four

patti smith - redondo beach

off of horses, one of my favorite albums of all time. john wishes that weren't true.

end of the family line

sometimes people are traveling and then moving, and just plain being too awesome to take the time to write about it. but i'm done with that bullshit now. and our things are almost all put away from the big move.this guy is awesome. thank god he's my boyfriend for life. we just took a trip to milwaukee to visit family.my brother made me a bloody mary.

my sister let me take showers in her apartment. she always has all the best fancy shampoos and sandy soaps and body butters.
john getting ready for his 20th high school reunion
john getting nervous and drinking a million beers before walking into his high school reunion.
besides for the fam, brian is probably my favorite person to visit in milwaukee. he's even in my top ten favorite people of all time. and yes, that is a very cute top i'm wearing. it's my new favorite, handmade by luxury jones and will be on the site next week.
this place has some sserious ambience.
drawing party before dinner

dorothy always wears the best gear.
even though our nephews and nieces are awesome.. this trip may have confirmed our decision to not have kids. our life is too perfect now.. what if they mess it all up?

denim maniac

john and i went to the mall the other day. i haven't done that in years. i was so very disappointed with the denim selection, even in the high-end department stores like nordstrom and neiman marcus. i couldn't find one high waist pair, and it looked like they were all still having a contest with each other to see who could put more jewels and crap on their pockets. what is the deal with that?? are people still really buying these tight acid zorched super low waist jeans with embroidered glittery carnivals on the pockets? did the clean plain high waist jean already come and go in the malls or did they still not arrive yet? i guess it's probably just due to the unfashionable san diego area.

the judi rosen's stove pipe bells sure are looking great in the new nylon.
i always mean to do more of this market research, but it costs me way too much in the shoe department. i ran into a pair of black gucci ankle boots with gold round studs on the heel... and fortunately for my bank account i was shopping with john and not hannah. but i still might have to go back and pick up those betsy johnson spiked heel fringe ankle boots which were much more affordable...

MIXTAPE - track twelve, volume four

the stone poneys - different drum

the perfect song for a broken heart

wear it for the shape

heart sunnies are back in stock for the summertime.
see the full refinery29 feature on heart sunglasses here. this girl is so cute except for the belly button that i had to crop out. that's probably my only fashion rule that i'm confident will be permanent: never show your belly button. yes cropped tops are in style right now and yes they are great, but wear them with a high waist for christ's sake.

hearts are here.

MIXTAPE - track ten, volume four

belle and sebastian - dress up in you
great lyrics and when the horns start up it gives me goosebumps everytime. just like how my old next door neighbor linda described it to me in 1987 when she would listen to george michael.
